Development projects/programmes and portfolios often are rather complex undertakings. Moreover, it occurs that people are appointed to managerial and advisory positions because of their proven technical skills rather than on the basis of their managerial  experience and ability. A successful manager, however, needs to have an excellent command of a broad range of operational managerial skills (e.g. planning and monitoring techniques) and personal management and leadership skills (e.g. negotiating and conflict management, team building, cross-cultural communication, meetings skills etc.).

Participants
Project managers, technical advisers, programme coordinators and other project and programme staff envisaged becoming managers in the near future and who have a particular interest in improving their overall operational management and leadership skills.
